Basic Math Concepts

  • Math and physics applets (9-12) This site contains java applets that are designed to help students visualize important concepts in mathematics and physics. Applets include simulations and demonstrations of sound waves, membrane oscillators, and vector fields.

  • Visual fractions (4-9) This site aims to reduce fraction anxiety, called Fractionitis, in adults and students by helping the user picture fractions and the operations that can be performed on them. There are instructions and problems to work through.

  • Math in daily life (6-12) This site explores how math principles can be helpful when deciding whether to buy or lease a car, following a recipe, or decorating a home.

  • Population growth and balance - (5-10) This site gives students the opportunity to use a mathematical model to conduct simulation population dynamics experiments.

Algebraic Concepts

Geometry & Patterns

  • Topology and geometry software (7-12) This site features online activities and games for exploring symmetries in 2- and 3-dimensional space with torus and Klein bottle figures.

Trigonometry

Probability & Statistics

  • Virtual laboratories in probability and statistics (11-12) This site provides a set of web based resources for students and teachers of probability and statistics. The site is divided into chapters grouped into topics for probability, statistics and special models, including Bernoulli Trials.

  • VESTAC, Visualization of and Experimentation with STAtistical Concepts (11-12) This site features applets designed to help students more easily visualize and understand abstract statistics concepts through interactive computer-aided instruction.

  • Seeing statistics (10-12) This site was designed to help students of statistics learn the dynamic, visual nature of statistical concepts using interactive methods. The site uses more than 150 Java applets.

Social Studies

  • Mock Trials - The law firm of Anderson Kill & Olick, P.C. does a mock trial related to the sinking of the Titanic for sons and daughters of their employees. They provide a complete set of information and hold a simulated trial so that sons and daughters can see the legal process at work in an interesting manner. Their web site at provides plenty of great information.

  • K-5 CyberTrail - cruise the CyberTrail for a look at educational resources on the Web available to teachers and discover how innovative elementary schools are giving back to the Web with interesting online projects.

  • Westward Ho! – (6-12) Travel the Oregon Trail! Lots of laughter, learning and realism in this online simulation.

  • Edo Japan, A Virtual Tour - A detailed virtual tour of 18th century Edo (now Tokyo) using traditional web pages.
